Life is rife with people looking for short cuts. I know, goodness I have looked for and tried and then gone back to doing the thing, the way the thing wanted to be done.

We all know of people who achieved what we wish to achieve and did it quickly by taking some sort of gamble. And, if it was legal, moral and ethical, good for them! Right place at right time paid off well for them.
The Life Lesson
It is very unwise to count on exceptions to bring us to our desired end. Be ready when one happens! A nice inheritance, or a benefactor likes you and decides to be your angel investor. The truth is that things happen that grease the skids, that do indeed help us on our way. People do play the lottery, and win! People do skip ingredients and find that the outcome is just as good and some will guess and get it right. Good Nuff!
Due Diligence
Due Diligence is a term used in business. It refers to knowing and understanding the important aspects of a business transaction. There is not a greater business transaction than ones life. It is the most important exercise in management that there is.
Now, I may go out to my back yard and throw a bunch of seeds out there and end up with a great harvest. That would be the exception, not the rule. Better to understand the important aspects and do the thing and do it right and enjoy the harvest.
Stories abound of people who took risks, and against all odds survived or triumphed in some way. The key is, “against all odds”.
The Application
Sadly there are many people who go through life waiting for “something to happen” rather than doing the thing! They take chances, they take risks, they wait and wait while their life continues without them reaching their desired aspirations. I am not here to tell you what you should want to do with your life. What I am here to say, is that most of the time, it will not be handed to you, but you will make a solid plan, make solid complete preparations, execute your plan and reap the rewards or good old fashioned hard work.
Along The Way…
Along the way, in the midst of doing the work, yes! you will catch some breaks! Sometimes things Will go amazingly well, and it is during those times that your time to success is shortened and your work produces more results than you thought. But it is in the middle of your deed, which you do lawfully, that you find yourself blessed. I won’t go into the story here, but I learned a valuable lesson at a point in my life, and that is that activity brings about results, that INACTIVITY does not. That may seem an obvious thing, but who do you know that sits doing not much of anything, waiting for their life to get better? And all the while complaing and crying about those who seem to have “all the luck”? Hah! Those lucky people are the ones who planned, prepare and execute!
So, Stop waiting for the exceptions and live by the rule.
